It is tested for emissions, quality and consistency and passes all tests with flying colors every time. But always be careful when purchasing fireplace gel fuels. Not all brands are tested, and not all brands could pass. If you have tried other brands of gel fuel, or know someone that has a gel fireplace and doesn't like it because "it stinks", it's because they are burning an inferior brand of gel fuel.
